509TH FORCE SUPPORT SQUADRON, US AIR FORCE

History: Squadron D, 509 Airdrome Group (designated on 3 November 1947; organized on 17 November 1947; discontinued on 1 August 1948) and the 509 Food Service Squadron (constituted as 509 Food Service Squadron, Bombardment, Medium on 2 July 1948; activated on 1 August 1948; redesignated 509 Food Service Squadron 16 March 1950; inactivated on 8 August 1952) are consolidated (10 October 1984) with the 509 Services Squadron (constituted, and activated, on 9 November 1967; organized on 2 January 1968; inactivated on 1 March 1970; activated 1 October 1979). Inactivated on 30 September 1990. Redesignated 509 Morale, Recreation and Services Squadron, and activated, on 1 July 1993. Redesignated: 509 Services Squadron on 1 January 1994; 509 Force Support Squadron on 25 June 2008.
