Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 27, 1995.

The name and arms are derived from the family Schenk von Landsberg. During the centuries the family obtained more and more estates in the region, which then was referred to as Schenkenländchen (lands of the Schenk family). They used a black lion as arms.

Before the arrival of the Schenk von Landsberg family, the area was largely a possession of the von Plötzke family. The fish in the arms is a canting Plötze (also Rotauge, Common Roach) for the family.
