Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 20, 2009.

The seated figure of the Blessed Virgin Mary holding the child Jesus and giving the Rosary appeared on a coat of arms design used by the Archdiocese shortly after its creation as a diocese in 1910. This indicates that the Patroness of the Archdiocese is Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Blue is a colour associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the sheaves of wheat make a reference to Saskatchewan.
