Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 13, 1999.

The arms are canting: "bartninkas" refers to "beekeeper" in Lithuanian, or, more exactly, this ancient term differs from the common "beekeeper" ("bitininkas") and refers to "keeper of forest bees living in hollow trees". Bears were sometimes ironically called "bartninkas" for their "care" about bees.
