The eagle symbolises the namesakes Polish Roots, the Escallop the former Pope Benedict XVI, the small Red Cross is from the arms of the Archdiocese of St Paul-Minneapolis and the sinister part of the shield is the arms of theDiocese of Winona.

The wavy bar symbolises the Mississippi River.
