BEDEKOVČINA

County : Krapina-Zagorje

Coat of arms (crest) of Bedekovčina
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted after a competition held in 1995. It shows the court-mansion of Bedekovcina, and a mug, symbol of long tradition of pottery in the area, which before over a hundred years transformed into the bricks and roof-tiles industry.

Another proposal from 1995 showed in a white shield four wavy bars, two upper red and two lower blue. The red bars represent the roof tiles, i.e. the pottery industry, while the two lower bars and number of waves represent the sever Bedekovcina lakes, artificially made by digging the earth for the tiles. The shield shape is the same as the shield used on the coat of arms of the city Zabok, of which Bedekovcina was part until 1993.

This proposal, in several variants based on the same idea, was adopted by the Community council of the community of Bedekovcina on 24th November 1995, as the second awarded on the competition.Literature:
