Background

Brooke Bond Tea started in the 1950s with issuing cards and albums. The aim was to educate the young, but the albums turned out to be very popular and many different albums were issued. In some years 4 million albums were printed yearly in England alone.

Similar albums were issued in Canada, Rhodesia, South Africa and the US. Only one of the albums had a heraldic theme, the Flags and Emblems of the World, from 1967. The album showed the images and some information on the history of the country, flag and arms. The back of the 50 cards showed the same text. The cards are numbered and have a blue text on the back.

As the series was very popular, it was reprinted in 1970, but now with the texts on the back in black.
