  • (2012) В лазоревом поле, волнисто пересеченном - вверху золотое возникающее сияющее, с расширяющимися и вписанными лучами, солнце; внизу, на серебряных волнах - золотая лодка с пятью золотыми гребцами (два, два и один) в парках и камлейках; на носу ладьи - таковой же гарпунщик, правой рукой заносящий золотой гарпун.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 7, 2012.

The rising sun symbolizes the geographical location of the Chukotka municipal district in the extreme east of the country, which meets the sun of a new day one of the first.

The boat with rowers and a harpooner is a symbol of one of the traditional fishing for the inhabitants of the Chukotka municipal district , including catching large marine animals: whales, seals and walruses. In the communities of indigenous peoples of Chukotka the basis of existence traditionally is the marine mammal hunting. Six people sitting in the same boat - symbolizing the six municipalities (rural settlements) in the district.

The base symbolizes the Bering Strait.

The previous arms were granted on January 25, 2010.

The arms show a walrus in front of a map of the district. The walrus is one of the traditional symbols of the Chukotka people and a common animal along the coast of the district. The six reindeer symbolise the importance of reindeer for the local population, as well as the six settlements in the district.
