Origin/meaning

Red and gold are the Spanish colors. The region around San Angrelo was first settled by the Spanish. The embattled green bar represents the old Fort Concho in San Angelo City. The 5-pointed star is The Lone Star from the flag of Texas. The red heart crowned with a silver diadem honors the Sacred Heart of Jesus, titular of the Cathedral Church. The (canting) wings are those of the ¨Holy Angels¨, the patrons of the See city.
