Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 2015.

The arms are a combination of elements of the seals of the three former municipalities.

Cotta is represented by the Spitzberg mountain. The seal showed a landscape with village in front of the mountain. The gnome (Querk) is based on a legend of gnomes living in the mountain. The red colour indicates the volcanic origin of the mountain.

Goes is represented by the blue part, showing some houses. This is taken unchanged from the seal.

Dohma itself is represented by the linden tree, which was also shown on the old seal.

The initial proposal was to combine the three seals, but this design was replaced by a slightly less complicated design, which was granted in 2015.
