FRÖSÖ

Province (Landskap): Jämtland
County (Län): Jämtlands län
Incorporated into : 1971 Östersund

Frösö kommunvapen

Official blazon

I blått fält en av vågskuror bildad bjälke av silver, åtföljd ovanför av två sexuddiga stjärnor och nedanför av en avbildning av korset på runstenen på Frösön, allt av guld.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on September 12, 1945.

The two stars refer to the fact that the town was a historical cultural place. The wavy bar is the Storsjön lake. The lower half is a symbol taken from the local rune-stone, the most Northernmost rune-stone in Sweden and the only known one in Jämtland.
