Origin/meaning

The Red Colour symbolies the Uniforms of the Rifle Battalion No 11. The Crossbow symbolises the Ponta Delgada Infantry Regiment and the Grenade the Garrison Artillery Group No 1. The Traditions of these former Unit are kept by the Garrison Regiment No 2. The Wavy posts symbolise the Waters surrounding the Isle of São Miguel. The Crest symbolises the rebirth of the Ponta Delgada Infantry Regiment and the Garrison Artillery Group No 1 in the Garrison Regiment No 2.
