GIBY

Province: Podlaskie
County: Sejny

Coat of arms (crest) of Giby
Official blazon
Polish blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on March 28, 2011.

The layout and color of the arm with the arrow and the fish are to refer to the Pogoń arms and symbolize the relationship of the territories with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The arm was changed to resemble a sedentary arm holding a hunting arrow. These elements, and the green color of the field are to symbolize the local forests and its ecological character. Lake Sielawa is one of the best fishing lakes in the region. The two rivers at the base are the Czarna Hańcza and Marycha.
