Wappen von Hördt/Arms (crest) of Hördt
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 10, 1950.

Previously the city used the arms above left, which were not officially granted.

The inverted V, or Lambda, was the old village symbol of Hördt and was used on borderstones for example. The oldest seal of the village, known from 1728 also showed this symbol. Until 1950 the village used the symbol both on seals as well as on a shield as arms. In 1950 the new arms were designed, which combined the old symbol with St. Mary and child, taken from the seal of the former Augustinian Monastery, which owned the village for many centuries.
