Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1963.

The arms show a crozier and a bunch of grapes. Both refer to the many possessions of the Weingarten (meaning vinyard) Abbey in the village. The Abbey acquired some land as early as 1270 and from 1693 rule dthe village by appointing the local judges. The grapes also refer to the oldest seal of the village, dating from the early 19th century, which showed a bunch of grapes. The grapes also indicate the importance of viticulture in the village. In the late 19th century the village used a seal with a resting lion, but as there was no historical reference for this, the lion was not added to the arms in 1963.
