Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1856 by King Maximilian II of Pfalz-Bayern and are based on the village seal known since the early 15^th century. The sword is derived from the arms of the local Lords of Kannel, who used two crossed swords. The origin of the stars is not known, but they may be a symbol for the St. Mary, the patron saint of the church.
