Official blazon

  • (1952) Sinisessä kentässä kultainen, hopeahelainen paaluittainen tuppipuukko kärki alaspäin, saaneena sen kummallakin puolella kaksi kultaista tulusrautaa.
  • (2009) Sinisessä kentässä kultainen irtonainen mantovanristi, alapuolellaan kilven reunasta reunaan ulottuva punainen neliherttainen helavyö; helat ja hertat kultaa.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on January 1, 2009.

The arms keep the cross from the arms of Kortesjärvi and show in the base four hearts, one for each of the former municipalities, bound together.

The previous arms were officially granted on October 17, 1952.

The knife symbolises the traditional handicrafts in the municipality, the fire strikers refer to the emergence of the youth's movement.
