Geteilt von Silber und Blau, oben eine rote heraldische Rose mit silbernem Butzen, unten schräg gekreuzt zwei silberne Reuthauen.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 18, 1982.

The divided shiel is the old arms of the city (see below) granted on July 9, 1817 by King Max I Joseph of Bayern. The arms are identical to the arms of the Lords of Breitenstein, who were Lord of the Manor until 1623.

In 1982 new elements were added to the arms. The rose in the upper half is taken from the arms of the Schenken von Reicheneck, who ruled the city in the 13th century. The two special spades (German: Reuthauen) are a canting symbol (-reuth) for the areas of Kürmreuth and Namsreuth, as well as for the village of Hannesreuth (from Sigras municipality) which were added to the Königstein in 1972.
