German heraldry:

Selected collector's items from Germany:

MANDERSCHEID (ISLEK)

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm (until 1969 Prüm)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Arzfeld

Wappen von Manderscheid (Islek)

Official blazon

Silber, gespalten durch eine eingeschweifte rote Spitze, darin silberne Kiefer, vorn schwarzes lateinisches Kreuz, hinten schwarzes achtspeichiges Mühlrad.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 4, 2011.

The division of the field with the tree refer to the -scheid part of the name, which means clearing of a forest. The two parts of the municipality, Manderscheider Hof and Heilhauser Mühle are represented by a cross and a water mill wheel respectively.

The red and silver colours refer to the Counts of Vianden and the Prüm Abbey, to which the area historically belonged.
