Origin/meaning

This logo was designed in 2007.

The shield has a typical Zulu shape and is surrounded by two cow horns. These are used widely in the area to store herbs and medicine, but is also used by the bishop to keep holy anointing oil.

The trhee masks represent the Holy Trinity. The black diamond is taken as a symbol for the theologigal Lumko Institute, where the bishop used to work. The shell is the symbol for St. James and refers to the PhD thesis of the bishop, which was devoted to the Letters of St. James. The colouors gold and red are taken from the arms of the Diocese of Hildesheim, where he became a priest.

The tassles of the galero have been changed here to cowry shells, a traditional currency and refer to spiritual wealth.

The motto "Scarlet - white as snow" is taken derm Jesaiah 1,18.
