Origin/meaning

Canting arms: they show a "mont" (Catalan for "mount"); the wavy bar across is the river Calders, which is born in the village, at the confluence of two minor streams. Monistrol belonged to Calders until 1934, when it obtained its autonomy, and the sun on the arms symbolizes "the dawn of the municipal freedom".
