On a hurt an owl affrontee argent, wing elevated alighting on a seax Or.

Origin/meaning

The Owl is symbolic of night-fighting, an occupation long associated with the Squadron. The Hurt is also indicative of the Night and the Seax symbolises Essex, where the the Squadron was raised and reraised in 1936. The Motto translates as "Fidelity unto duty". The badge was granted in April 1937.
