NO 1840 SQUADRON, FAA

History: First foremd in 1944 at Royal Naval Air Station Burscough (HMS ringtail), Ormskirk as a Dutch-manned Fighter Squadron Equipped with Grumman Hellcats. served in the Far East and disbanded into No 1839 Squadron in 1945. Reformaed as an Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve Squadron in 1951 and disbanded in 1957.

Origin/meaning

The Badge allude to the Grumman Hellcat Aricraft flown by the Squadron. The Badge was approved on 31 October 1944.
