NO 823 SQUADRON, FAA

History: First formed in 1933 asa Spotter-Reconnaissance Squdron form HMS Glorious at sea and ashore at Royal Naval Air Station Hal Far (HMS Falcon), Malta. Disbanded in 1940, reforemd 1941 at Royal Naval Air Station Crail (HMS Jackdaw) and dibanded into 822 Squadron in 1944.

Official blazon
English Per fess white and barry wavy of four blue and white; chief an eagle volent to the sinister black base a Maltese Cross party per pale white and red.

Motto: Vigeur de dessus.

Origin/meaning

The Maltese Cross allude to the connection to the Island of Malta. The French Motto translates as "Strength from above". The Badge was approved on 19 March 1937.
