Origin/meaning

In first quarter the figure of the Holy Spirit, promoter and animator of all evangelizing actions. Without their divine action, any evangelizing effort becomes impossible.

In second quarter is the Star symbol of Mary whom we invoke as "Morning Star", "Star of Evangelization". In her hands the bishop places his episcopal ministry so that he configures his spirit to that of the Good Shepherd and proceeds as a sign of hope and consolation.

In the third quarter the lily, symbol par excellence of Saint Joseph, which refers to the Departement of San José, where the Bishop is from. It was there that he began his preparation for the priesthood in the pre-seminary.

In the fourth quarter the book of the Gospels. It is the Bishop who especially entrusts the proclamation of the Word of God through the evangelization of catechesis and the celebration of the sacraments.

The motto that has guided the bishop's presbyteral ministry has been: "I will announce your name to my brothers" (S. 21.23), it guides the new ministry in the fullness of the priesthood that the Church entrusts to it.
