OSTBELGIEN (until 2017 Deutschsprachige Gemeinschaft)

Arms (crest) of Ostbelgien

Official blazon

In Silber ein roter Löwe begleitet von neun blauen Fünfblättern, von einer Königskrone überhoht.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 1, 1990.

The lion is the lion of Limburg, as the area historically belonged to Limburg (later to other States and is now part of the province of Liège). The nine flowers symbolise the nine German-speaking municipalities.
