Origin/meaning

The arms were registered on June 21, 2018.

The original concept of the arms was designed by Jaroslav Vosika who consulted it with the heraldist of the company ALERION. In 2016 the arms were approved by the municipal council. The hill in the arms is canting for the town's name (Ostrov - Island, formerly also known as Zelený Ostrov - Green Island) while the three white stones represent local boulders, scattered around the municipality, about which the locals even have a legend (The Stone Herd). The potato flower points to the agricultural nature of the region. The black waterwheel represents the ancient Ostrov mill. Literature: Image obtained from here.
