Arms of Rødby

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1973.

The oldest seal of Rødby dates from 1680 and already showed a ship, typically for a harbour town. The colours were added later, based on the name of the town, rød is red.

In 1970 the arms were redesigned, the old waves were removed and the anchors were added, these arms were officially registered in 1973. The anchors represent Rødbyhavn and Puttgarden (in Germany), the two harbours at both sides of the ferry between Germany and Denmark.
