RASZYN

Province: Mazowsze
County: Pruszków

Coat of arms (crest) of Raszyn

Official blazon

Na tarczy dwudzielnej w słup w polu prawym, czerwonym, głowa orła srebrna w lewo z dziobem złotym, w polu lewym, złotym, głowa orła czarna z dziobem złotym.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on February 3, 1999.

The arms refer mainly to the Battle of Raszyn in 1809 between armies of the Austrian Empire under Archduke Ferdinand Karl Joseph of Austria-Este and the Duchy of Warsaw under Józef Antoni Poniatowski, as part of the War of the Fifth Coalition in the Napoleonic Wars. This is symbolised by the heads of the Polish white eagle and the Austrian black eagle.
