RINGKØBING AMT

Region : 2007 Midtjylland

Arms of Ringkøbing Amt

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 25, 1960.

The deers head is taken from the seal of Ginding Herred (an older administrativ unit) from 1648. The tree stars are taken from the seals of the tree remaining Herred (Vandfuld, Hjerm and Bølling) These seals date back to around 1500.

In 1997 the arms were officially regranted when the name of the district was changed from Amtskommune into Amt. At the time the image was modernized, see below, but the description was not altered, hence the above image remained the official image.
