Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ?

The green field with the silver wavy bar, refer to the green valley and the Seeve river. The chief shows the monument for King Henry the Lion in Braunschweig. The king owned a large farming estate in Hittfeld in the municipality in the 11th and 12th century.

The millstone refers to the importance of the (former) watermills in the area. The 19 segments of the stone refer to the 19 former municipalities.
