SOVATA

District/county (județ) : Mureș

Stema Sovata

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 20, 2011.

The golden sun is representative of the spa of Sovata, and the horn of the silver moon is reminiscent of the "salt guards", settlers established in these lands in the sixteenth century, with the mission to guard the salt mines.

The silver chevron is a symbol of the salt mountain, and the silver bear fur represents the Bear Lake whose natural shape suggests a bear fur. The green background represents the richness of local forests, with specific flora and fauna, the area being famous in the field of spa treatments and tourism.

The mural crown with 3 crenellated towers means that the town has the status of a city.
