Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on April 26, 1996.

The arms show St. George slaying the dragon standing on a green hill, making the arms canting (Juraj is George).

The arms replaced two earlier designs, both adopted by the municipality in 1995.

The first was adopted on March 10, 1995 and shows a quartered shield, with a pierced dragon and a star. The colours red, white and blue link the community with the Međimurje county and Croatia. The ten-pointed star represents the ten villages of the community, and the wavy rays stand for the hills in the region. The pierced dragon represents St. George.

On September 14, 1995, the arms were changed, the dragon was replaced by the full image of St. George and the saint and star switched places.
