Origin/meaning

The design includes elements taken from the badges of the predecessor units of The Cape Breton Highlanders. The mayflower is the provincial flower of Nova Scotia, where the regiment is located. The arms of the province are those in use at the time of the badge’s creation. The thistle is the emblematic flower of Scotland, while the maple leaf represents Canada. The Royal Crown indicates service to the Sovereign. The Motto translates as “Breed of manly men”.

The badge was approved by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on June 10, 2014.
