Origin/meaning

The arms show in the upper half a black grouse, a very typical bird for the (former) moors in the municipality.

The base shows 7 buckwheat fruits, symbolising the 7 municipalities that form the present municipality of Twist. Buckwheat farming was of great importance in the 19th and early 20^th century. The black colour symbolises the oil that is found in the municipality.
