Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 6, 1819 and confirmed in 1841.

The meaning of the arms is not known. The municipality probably send them for registration in the early 19th century, but without explanation. There are no historical seals known.

As the municipality did not indicate colours when applying for the arms, the Dutch Hoge Raad cab Adel granted the rms in the Dutch national colours. After the Belgian independence, the arms were confirmed in 1841, but the colours were not changed.
