Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1945.

The arms are based on the old seal of the town. The town was founded by King Karl IX in the early 16th century, which is reflected in the letters (Carolus IX). The meaning of the oak tree and squirrel is not known, but also not uncommon (see f.e. Auma in Germany).
