Arms of Värmskog

Official blazon

I fält av silver att avslitet blått griphuvud mellan tre blå kryckkors, ordnade två och ett.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 12, 1951.

The griffin's (or eagle's) head is taken from a stone in the local church, probably dating from the 10th century and symbolises the long habitation of the area. The cross, also taken from a stone in the church, symbolises the time after Christianity was introduced in the region. The three crosses also refer to the three parts of the former municipality and parish.
