Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 26, 2003.

The tower refers to the local church tower ruin, a typical landmark of the village. The Luther rose refers to the fact that the village was one of the earliest to convert to Lutheranism (and one of its inhabitants studied with Luther).

The base shows a fibula (clasp), dating from the 4th century AD found in a grave near the village.
