Origin/meaning

Zell im Harmersbach was founded by the Gengenbach Abbey in the 13^th century and became an imperial city in the 14^th century. All seals since the 13^th century until the 19^th century showed the imperial eagle. After the city had become a part of Baden in the early 19^th century, the arms showed the eagle with a breastshield of Baden, and with the crest and supporters of Baden. Since 1903 the old arms are restored.
