Arms of Joseph Schröffer

as bishop
Arms of Joseph Schröffer

as cardinal

Official blazon

As was fashionable at the time, he used two shields as a bishop, one with the arms of the diocese and one with the personal arms. As cardinal he only used the personal arms.

The ibex on the rocks is a canting element, Schröffer means something like 'a place near the broken rocks'. The fleur-de-lys and the blue colour refer to St. Mary.
