The Badge show the Arms of Abraham van der Hulst (1619-1666), Vice-Admiral of the Amsterdam Admirality. He distinguished himslef in the First and Second Anglo-Dutch Wars and died in the Four Day Battle on 12 June 1666. He is buried in the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. The Badge was approved on 27 October 1988.
