- (fr) De gueules au sautoir gironné d'argent et de sable, cantonné de deux fleurs de lis d'or en chef et en pointe et de deux besants du même en flancs.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted in 1998.
The red field and the golden balls (besants) are taken from the arms of the Bougy family, the fleur-de-lys from the arms of the Barville family, both families ruled the area in the 15th century.
The saltire gyronny symbolises the two large diamonds, the Sancy and the Small Sancy, once owned by Nicolas de Harlay de Sancy (1546–1629), lord of the village in the 17th century. The Big Sancy (55 carat) is now in the Louvre museum, the smaller one (35 carat) is in private hands.
