Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a white vertical rectangle arched convexly at bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border, a red raguly pile reversed charged with five white lances points to chief; Attached below the shield a white scroll inscribed “EAST UNION” in blue letters, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) blue border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 3/8 inches (6.03 cm) in width.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules a demi-knight in armor affronté throughout proper grasping a jousting lance bendwise sinister overall. Attached above the shield a Blue scroll inscribed “LANCERS LEAD” in Silver letters and attached below the shield a Blue scroll inscribed “OTHERS FOLLOW” in Silver letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Red and blue are the school colors. The lance alludes to the school’s mascot, the lancer. The raguly pile suggests dramatic movement forward and symbolizes the cadets’ aggressive physical and mental training.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Red, white and blue are the school colors. The lancer is the school mascot.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved on 21 July 1998. Amended 11 January 2004 to correct the measurement. The Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 21 July 1998.
