Origin/meaning
The arms show a lion, derived from the arms of the Counts of Gleichen, who in the 12th century acquired the town of Thonnaha. The local seals in the late 19th century showed a canting beer barrel (Tonne) between laurel branches. In older rolls of arms and seals only the lion was used.
