Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 4, 2010.

The quartering of the shield refers to the Pronsfeld Estate, to which the village historically belonged, which was a condominium of four feudal lords. The cross in the first quarter is the symbol of the State of Trier, one of the owners of the estate. The fourth quarter, as well as the blue and silver colours refer to the Duchy of Luxembourg. The tree branch refers to the -scheid part of the name, which means a cleared part of a forest. The ploughshare refers to the agricultural character of the municipality.
