BOLOGNA

Region : Emilia-Romagna
Province : Bologna

Stemma di Bologna/Arms (crest) of Bologna
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 6, 1937.

The arms show in the second and third quarter the word Libertas. Bologna was a free State until 1506, and the word is a reminder thereof. The first and fourth quarter show a cross of unknown origin, with a chief of Anjou, as the town was ruled by the House of Anjou.
