Origin/meaning

The wheel refers to the fact that in 1644 the village was destroyed and the inhabitants massacred. Only one woman survived, hidden under a water-mill wheel. The bend symbolises the Colombine river, whcih runs from the Northeast to the Southwest.

The lower half shows a stone wall for the many ancient stone buildings in the village. The palm leaf refers to Saint Valery (Valère), who was killed nearby in the 5th century.
