DIOCESE OF FALL RIVER (Dioecesis Riverormenensis)

Country : United States
Denomination : Roman Catholic

Established : 1904

Arms (crest) of Diocese of Fall River

Official blazon

Argent, a bend wavy azure, over all a cross nowy throughout gules, charged with a star of six points of the first.

Origin/meaning

The wavy blue bend is a canting element for a 'falling river'. The cross symbolises redemptation and graces which flow from the cathedral as a spiritual centre of the diocese.

The red circle with the 6 pointed star honors the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary; the title of the cathedral is ¨Morning Star¨.
