Origin/meaning
Waiblingen was founded by Count Ulrich I of Württemberg in 1250. The first seal probably dates from the same time and shows the arms of Württemberg. From 1312-1315 the city used a seal with only the Imperial eagle, later that century again with the Württemberg arms. The chief appears in the 16th century and serves to distinguish the arms of the city with those of Württemberg. At the same time the colour also changed from gold to silver. The arms thus never have changed since.
